About Acupuncture At Riverside
After earning my four-year master’s degree in acupuncture from the New England School of Acupuncture—the oldest acupuncture school in the country—I ran a clinic in Cambridge, MA, for three years. But having previously attended graduate school at Cal State Hayward, my heart had always belonged to the West Coast. So in 2004, I found my way to Grants Pass and have been in private practice here ever since.
I practice Japanese acupuncture, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) but has some key differences. The needles I use are hair-thin filaments that are inserted very shallowly, so my patients don’t experience the pain or intense sensation (known as DeQi) often felt with the larger, more deeply inserted Chinese needles. This approach allows for a painless experience. Japanese acupuncture also uses far fewer needles, can address multiple issues at the same time, and is especially effective for emotional concerns such as stress, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and PTSD.
Ellen is currently focusing on providing many Electroneuro Acupuncture treatments. The effectiveness of this service has led to an increase in patients interested in it.
